Create an amulet using natural materials & exhibition tour of 'Alaria' (aged 7 - 15) - 11:00 am-12:15 pm

The Gerald Moore Gallery, Gerald Moore Gallery, Mottingham Lane (Opposite Layzelle Walk), London, SE9 4RW

On Saturday 24th May, we will be hosting a FREE creating an amulet using natural materials workshop and an exhibition tour of 'Alaria' by the artist Miriam Austin from 11am - 12.15pm. Inspired by the themes of our relationship with nature explored in the exhibition, attendees (aged 7 - 15 and family members) will get to create personalised amulets or talismans using sculptural techniques. Booking is essential.

'Alaria' brings together new work by Eiko Soga, Esther Teichmann, and Miriam Austin, each offering sensual and imaginative engagements with landscapes shaped by water: island, swamp, and fen. The succession of seasons, the growth of a foetus, the skin of an eel, the overhang of a branch, and the play of light on water – these are some of the gestures that bind the artworks together and might also tempt us away from the destructive binaries of human/nonhuman, natural/artificial.

The exhibition runs from 28th April to the 24th May 2025 and the gallery is open to the public on Saturdays 10am - 4pm.

NOTE: Please enter Eltham College via Grove Park Road and walk through a pedestrian gate next to the Chapel to get to the gallery.

Enter Elsie Maynard and Jack Point, two strolling players sorely in need of money, and the offer of 100 crowns soon persuades them to let Elsie be blindfolded and marry a man who is to die that very day.
