Tudor Barn

The Grade II Star listed Tudor Barn is set in the verdant Well Hall Pleasaunce and it is a real gem of a building. About 500 years old it was almost certainly not designed to be a barn but as an adjunct to the original medieval house which once stood on Moat Island. The moat is still there and the Tudor Barn, which now trades as a bar and restaurant, has a terrace that backs onto it, great for chilling out in spring and summer.

The Tudor Barn is under new ownership and has been very tastefully decorated and refurbished. The new owners are passionate about the Tudor Barn and Marcus will always show you round, time and other commitments permitting. So good to see such a vital part of Eltham’s cultural inheritance experiencing a renaissance. Do go there and drink a toast to Cllr William Barefoot who saved it for us all back in the 1930s.
