Can anyone help me with information on Mottingham House, Eltham, as I have discovered I had an Uncle Fred (Frederick James George Smith born 1912) who was transferred there in 1917 from the Kingston Union Workhouse because he was Roman Catholic. Would appreciate any help or guidance.

Are you the person we are looking for ?

Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Volunteering with Girlguiding is about more than just giving something back to your local community. Our volunteers certainly do that, but whether it’s for a few hours a year or every week, people who work with us feel truly rewarded in lots of different ways.

Look what our volunteers say:
“It’s so much fun trying out different exciting activities with the girls. I’d recommend guiding to anyone.’
“I’ve met some amazing people through guiding – it’s helped me widen my social circle and I’ve made some true friends.’

We are currently looking for adults to help in rainbow (ages 5 to 6) and brownie units (ages 7 to 10) in the Eltham and Mottingham area.

Why not email us on rew.mottingham @ ntlworld.com (without the spaces) to find out more about the opportunities we have available for you to help us and have fun in the process ?

I am desperately trying to contact an old friend, Marjorie Brocklebank (nee Tooley) who lived in Dunkery Road, Mottingham in the forties. Her Dad had a motorcycle repair shop just by Lee Station, SE12. Marjorie would be 80 new (birthday 26.3.34) and it would be fantastic if I could find her. Anything you can do to help would be gratefully appreciated.
Kind regards,
Shirley Bannister (nee Andrews)

I'm working for a television production company and we're looking for people to take part in a brand new Channel 4 prime time series. I was wondering if it would be possible to include some information about it in any newsletters you may send out to members or perhaps post something on your websites. If you feel this would be suitable, I have included a few lines with the relevant contact details, should anyone be interested. Do you desperately need help with your house? Fed up with the interior décor in your home? Fancy a makeover for one of your rooms? Raise the Roof Productions, makers of Kirstie’s Vintage Home and Phil Spencer: Secret Agent are producing a brand new prime time series for Channel 4 and could help. Interested in taking part? To find out more, get in touch with our team ASAP
